Van Wicklen, age 42, farmer with wife, Ann E., 37, and the following children: Richard, 16, Wm McKey, 13, Jacob, 10, Sarah, 7, Phebe, 6, Lewis, 4, and Margaret, 7 months. Also listed in this household are Jacob Van Wicklin, 26, male, black and Sarah Van Wicklin, 16, female, black. Could the latter two individuals be black servants or slaves of Garret Van Wicklin?

Cypress Hills Cemetery, NY, Lot 54, will made, 7 July 1884, will proved 8 April 1886 (Lib 37:121 Jamaica). Garret was Overseer of Highways, Jamaica, NY in 1842, 1857, 1862. He m. Ann Elizabeth McKee (b. 11 March 1811, L.I., NY and d.7 June 1872, Queens, Village (In the residence of John B. Bennet, L.I. Death Rec. 11 June 1972). She was bur. Cypress Hills Cemetery, NY, Lot 54 [notes of FMVW and LICI]. They had seven children.

He m. Mary Elizabeth Selover (b.18 June 1839, d.4 April 1905, bur. Cypress Hills Cemetery, NY, Lot 52. She is d/o Daniel Skidmore and Mary (DeMott) Selover. Jacob^7 Lott Van Wicklin, b.18 August 1839, Jamaica, NY, bap. 28 November 1839, Jamaica RDC and d. 4 May 1906. He m. 10 March 1864 to Katherine "Katie" Compton; Sarah^7 Elizabeth Van Wicklen, b.9 March 1842, Jamaica, NY, bap.7 June 1842 and d.1 October 1874. She m. Fred McCormick (b.9 June 1934). A footstone is Lot 54 Cypress Hills Cemetery marked "Lizzi" may be that of Sarah Elizabeth. However it may be for a child of Sarah Elizabeth; Phebe^7 Jane Van Wicklen, b.2 February 1844, Jamaica, NY, bap.6 March 1845, Jamaica RDC and d.18 August 1861 Woodhaven, bur. Cypress Hills Cemetery, NY, Lot 54. Unmarried; Lewis^7 Van Wicklen, b.14 October 1846, Jamaica, NY, bap.9 March 1847 and d. after 1896. He married Julia ____ before 1880; Margaret^7 Van Wicklen, b.1849, Jamaica, NY and d. after 1896. She m. Eugene Valentine.
