In several Jamaica, NY RDC records Magdalene and others are referred to as GESS, some of these are:
Magdalane GESS, [NYGBR 109:220: Maria, bap. 4 May 1823, dau. of Derick Van Wicklen and Magdalane GESS.]
Jane GESS, [NYGBR (New York Genealogical & Biographical RECORD)109:218: Eliza, bap.5 Nov.1811, dau. of Abraham SNEDIKER and Jane GESS.]
Jane is the sister of Magdalane (sometimes Magdalene) GESS,
Lewis GUEST, butcher (great-grandfather Isabrant Van Cleef was a butcher), m. Jane Van Sickler/ Van Vickler, of Kings Co., [“NY Marriages previous to 1784” by Kennith Scott, GPC 1968 p.162: Lewis GUEST, m. 18 July 1772 Jane Van Sickler (marriage bond) xix p.1.] which would be about the correct time frame. [MW].
His son’s Lewis’s headstone (marble) reads: [“Description of private and family cemeteries in the borough of Queens” p.55 Southside Burial Grounds:] In Memory of LEWIS GUEST (Jr.), brother of Madelene VAN WICKLEN; who died Apr.13, 1848; aged 76 years.”
or as Van SICKLER, as Van VICKLER (prob. a misspelling)
1.+Lewis GUEST, shoemaker, b.abt.1773, d.13 Apr.1848, m. Sarah COTTRELL, at least one son.
2.+Jane GESS, b.abt.1774, m.abt.1794 Abraham SNEDEKER, bap 26 Feb.1758, 7 children,

4.+Magdalene GESS, b.10 Aug.1782, d.1867, m.abt.1806 Derick Van WICKLEN, b.1774,10 children
see: “History of the Van Sickle Family ...” by John W. Van Sickle. Even though this Jane is not mentioned in this work it has been shown [MW] that she is of this family and would be among the 5th gereneration from immigrant Fernandus1.
So far, records for Lewis Guest and Jane Lawrence, such as records of any children, are not evident in NJ after their marriage. It seems that they might have migrated to another state after their marriage. [MW]
